Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

It was my first time here. The pizza was good (toppings and crust alike). I decided on the monster pizza on whole wheat crust, so that I can feel I wasn't cheating (don't judge me). Was it the best I've ever had? No, I can't say that much, but it was tasty. Might I add the dressings and the crust are both homemade without the additives or GMOs. Hence the reason I give them 4 stars. I also appreciated that they delivered to my address in Cary for double the delivery cost of just $4....I wasn't disappointed. I'll eat here again.

This place is freaking awesome. I live in Chicago, but I don't say that to be snooty; I simply say it because I have had my fair share of 'za. That being said, though, I am the utter opposite of a "Chicago thick crust" pizza fan. I like and prefer a thinner crust...you know the kind where square cut is the only acceptable way to serve pizza. My next comment is regarding their salad; yeah, I know why order salad from a place that serves pizza; it's kind of an oxymoron! That being said you're truly doing yourself a disservice by not getting their salad with their hommade blue cheese dressing; it's made fresh daily by the owners, and it's phenomenal! I'm pretty good at figuring out recipes, but I can't get this one down. My guess is the secret ingredient is crack or something equally addictive! Go here! You won't be disappointed!

We have been very pleased with the pizza place and continue to go back. My wife has certain food allergies and they are more than accommodating in helping try new ingredients. The owners are absolutely delightful and we are glad we found this pizza place.

Great food and great people! I highly recommend the whole wheat crust. It is delicious and a way to make your pizza a little lighter.

The first time we ordered pizza for delivery, the woman that answered was charming. We are 4 miles away, and she said that was within their delivery area. Which I would think it would be. The pizza was good. Nice crust, good sauce. All was fine. I called to order tonight, and the not so charming woman told me we are in the double the price of delivery area. Now the delivery, to drive those 4 miles, would be $5.00. This seemed a bit much. We called our old favorite. I felt badly, as I do try to support the local independents. But our old favorite is also an independent, who supports lots of kids sports teams, and makes a great pizza :-)

Excellent service, friendly. Pizza was best I've had in crystal lake. Will be back for sure.

The Pizza Place and More was recommended by an acquaintance for their gluten free items. I stopped in over lunchtime and had a great conversation with Pam one of the owners. She discussed their GF items and I ordered the GF Chicken Fingers. They were exceptional and I order a GF pizza to go. My wife who is also gluten free and dairy free, loved it (we ordered Sausage and Goat Cheese). We have been back several times since and have recommended it to others. We picked up a regular pizza and pasta for my father and aunt who raved about the high quality and attention to detail (we are all Sicilian). Strongly recommend people stop in a give it a try.

Just are a their stuffed pizza and it was unreal. It was so good but I could only eat two pieces. The pizza was flavorful and the customer service was spectacular. Pam who we worked with from the phone to the door our pizza showed up at was very nice.

This is the best pizza in Crystal Lake. It is better than Georgio's or Lou Malnati's. I have eaten there at least 20 times since Pam & Thea bought out Chicago Pizza and changed the name to Pizza Place. The ingredients are all fresh, top quality, gourmet and cooked to perfection. The pizza is not too cheap, but you get what you pay for. I recommend the Chicken Alfredo pizza on thin crust or the stuffed crust will feed you for a week. They have slices available all the time for a few bucks, inexpensive Cokes and excellent service. They have daily specials that make their food a great value. There is always a movie playing in the lobby from their huge VHS collection. This is a fun place, good food and nice people. Oh also, they do Whole wheat crust and Gluten Free Pizza!!! This is not a paid advertisement. I have no business interest in this place, I just love the food. Whoever the reviewer is that gave it 3 stars does not know what in the XXXX they are talking about.

I have been trying to find a decent thin crust pizza ever since we moved to the area. THIS HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT TASK!! We have picked up pizza here at "The Pizza Place and More" a few times since moving here and had delivery once. The first time we stopped in the owner was very nice and treated us like we were their only customer. I was impressed by her warm welcome. That first pizza reminded me of the better pizza places I used to order from in Chicago. Since that first time the pizzas have been inconsistent. One thing I have noticed on every pizza is that the crust is very hard in spots especially on the edges. I am talking break your teeth hard. There is no excuse for that! They need to tweak something in their dough making process to correct this. The cheese is slightly above average quality. It would not hurt if they mixed in some whole milk shredded mozzarella (low moisture) to the cheese they are currently using. I think they use a part skim shredded mozzarella (low moisture) but I don't know for sure. The whole milk mozzarella would give the cheese a more oohy-goohy texture which I think customers would like. I also recommend that they add more cheese to the pizza! Don't hold back on the cheese! ..... currently cheese is cheap in the low $2.00 per pound range for good quality mozzarella cheese ..... pile it on a little more! They make a homemade pizza sauce which is good and flavorful! The Italian bulk sausage they are getting from their distributor is good. The produce they use to top the pizza is fine. But I think they should use green peppers and not sun tan peppers like I got on my pizza. You can google sun tan peppers. They are similar to green peppers but not exactly. Their Italian beef is not made in house. They use bari beef which is a company out of Elgin. Bari makes a decent beef but the best beef sandwiches can be found at places that make their own like Mr a's in Crystal lake. Appetizers are average quality. Prices are on the high side. I do not understand why? Cheese, hy - gluten flour (used to make pizza dough) and Italian sausage are all cheap right now. There is no reason to charge "Cadillac prices" for a pizza. They can lower their prices and still do fine! In conclusion, "The Pizza Place and More" seems like a nice family run place! They go above and beyond in customer service and seem like very nice people. I gave them an extra star for being so nice! I think with some adjustments (in quality and price) they can be a five star thin crust pizza joint. Until then they are just average in my book. And I will keep searching to try and find my go to thin crust pizza joint in the Crystal lake area which is easier said than done!! Lou malanati's has deep dish down and they are great for that but I can only eat that once in awhile. Thin crust is my favorite type of pizza!

Amazing pizza. Let me state this again: AMAZING PIZZA. I don't know what it is that makes it so delicious but I'm betting on the crust and the cheese. My husband and I can't get enough of it.

I moved to Crystal Lake just over a year ago and I am so happy that I finally found an amazing pizza place. Their thin crust pizza is outstanding and the owners are super friendly. If you're looking for a new pizza place give them a try. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Don't judge a book by its cover. These are my words of wisdom to you, fellow Yelpers. I was slowly navigating my way to Woodstock in search of the hospital that my Grandma was being treated at, when I realized that lunchtime was flying by and I wasn't going to be able to hold out until dinner. I pulled up my handy, dandy Yelp iPhone app and started to think that I was going to visit a nearby restaurant. When I pulled into the strip mall's parking lot, I saw a sign for The Pizza Place. Sure, it's a pizza place. No really, it's THE Pizza Place. I hesitated, but thought it would be quick and cheap, so even if it's bad, it'll still be good. It's pizza and that's kinda how it works. I wandered in and I met my long, lost great-aunt... But seriously, the darling owner reminded me so much of my Great Aunt Antoinette. I haven't seen my aunt in many years and I just wanted to give the owner a big ol' hug! She was on the phone taking an order when I walked in, but she smiled and made me feel welcome. When we started talking, I found that she was helpful in all the best ways. She's the sort of business owner that you want to buy your slice of pizza from - just so cute and kind that I want to put her in my pocket and take her and her kindness with me! They have pizza by the slice. Both original and the whole wheat crusts. Their lunch special is a slice for $3, a second slice for $1 and a can of pop for $.75. They have gluten free pizza and pasta, too! So it's just a random storefront in a non-descript strip mall and there's nothing fancy about these digs, but I swear to you - try the pizza. Just get a slice of sausage pizza and enjoy! They make their own crust daily and it is fabulous!!! I ate a slice of their original crust pizza and decided to indulge in a second slice, but this time went with the whole wheat crust. This was good and light, but not nearly as phenomenal tasting as their original crust. The customers wandered in one after another in the 20 minutes that I was there. All but one were regulars and I can taste why. They make a stellar pizza crust! And provide service with a smile the whole time!!!

I was in the area and decided to give them a try. WOW, who would have thought a simple Cheese and Sausage thin crust could taste any better than this did. I was impressed by the crunchiness of the crust as I bit into my first piece yummm. Try these guys out they are different and in such a good way. I do not live near them but I just went back again. Here is my favorite part. If you are blessed with leftovers, the ingredients are so fresh that if you heat it up the next day it tastes GREAT!

I absolutely love this place!!! Best pizza in town by far. They have great specials and the pizza is amazing, and the service is above and beyond.

Get the stuffed. Put down the menu and just get the stuffed pizza. I didn't understand at first, I thought it would be a stuffed pizza like Giordano's or my beloved Chicago Pizza (who stays open til 4 am and I miss dearly). But no, this a something else altogether. Its like two pizzas put together so that its kind of a pizza sandwich. This sounds gluttonous and probably is but I love it so!! The double dough is okay as is the thin crust. But I keep going back for the stuffed. Flavors are good and the crust is just right on. Sandwiches/grinders are fine but nothing to write home about. The employees are superfriendly & sweet. They had old school cartoons & kids movies to play via VHS. Bonus! And they sell by the slice & have a little counter to gnosh at. Also a plus.

The Pizza Place is one of those places that have fairly good deals. They send loads of coupons in the mail, most of which never expire. For about $20 on a special, you can have yourself a 16 inch pizza and a little 12 inch pizza, since the 12 inch will be free. Not bad. I also like the staff, who are always helpful and ready to banter with you. The little packets of parmesan and red pepper that you can pick up with your pizza are cute. However, the problem is that the pizza never really lives up to its reputation and tastes good. The crust is too think and unwieldy for a thin crust. The sauce isn't very good. The sauce was excellent after the first few months when they took over. What happened?Lately there has been too much oil associated with the pizza as well. I am not sure I really like getting my pizza there, other than its convenient, friendly, and cheap. Best valve in town for the money.

The pizza was good and the service was even better! They are super friendly- you don't find that often

Wow! The owners of this place are so understanding. I have many food allergies, including lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity, and they made me a gluten-free pizza with goat cheese! They assured me they used a separate set of knives and everything to ensure no cross-contamination. It was the very best gluten-free pizza I've ever had in my many years of trying to get tasty pizza that kept me feeling good after I ate it. Thanks Pam and Thea!

This was my first visit to The Pizza Place. I ordered a large pepperoni thin crust for takeout. Guys, I thought their pizza was pretty good. The sauce was robustly seasoned without being overpowering, full of tomato flavor without being sweet. The crust was fine, the cheese was generous and flavorful, and the pepperoni was at least the equal of other shops'. What's more, the staff were nice, and the price (with a coupon) was excellent. I'll be ordering here again soon, no doubt about it.

We tried this place because they offer half-price pizzas for military (a fabulous deal!) We have been consistently impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the freshness of the food. The quality of the cheese they use is excellent - unlike many pizza joints. They offer delicious salads and a variety of homemade dressings. They are a local, family-owned business that adds great value to our community. We highly recommend The Pizza Place!

The pizza place and more has great food! I can't say enough about how fresh and delicious everything is. The dough and sauce combo is to die for! Its made fresh daily! All sauces and dressings are homemade and WOW what a delicious treat ordering home cooked food to go! The owners and staff ALWAYS make you feel like part of the family! By far my most favorite restaurant in town! Check it out!!! :)

Didn't even get a chance to try this pizza place as I was so turned off by the attitude of the owner. Bought what I thought was a great deal from a groupon-like offer - 10.00 for a 18" two-topping pizza. The ad showed a beautiful deep dish Chicago-style pizza. The ad mentioned nothing about the type of crust or pizza. To my dismay, when I called to order I was told that it was only a thin crust. I spoke with the owner and she placed all blame on the ad and didn't accept any responsibility for any potential errors in the ad. Pam (the owner) stated that she would not "eat another 10 dollars on a pizza" and that I could only get a thin crust with that deal. I was willing to drive 20 minutes to try something new and possibly have a new favorite pizza place, but she wouldn't budge. I promptly asked for a refund and she stated that I had to contact the original vendor. She was very rude and for someone trying to drum up new business, this is certainly not the way to attract new customers. I will never go there and I will make certain to spread the word. Had she honored what was shown on the ad or maybe even been a bit nicer, this would not have been an issue. Unfortunately, this was not the case. So I do not recommend this place at all based solely on the attitude of the owner and unwillingness to live up to their advertising.
